Thursday, October 24
Two Performances: 2:00 and 6:15 pm
Park Cinemas, Paso Robles
Tickets: $35 matinee, $40 eveningJust in time for Halloween and Day of the Dead, the deceased former citizens of Spoon River, Illinois come back from the grave to tell their engaging stories of infidelity, secrecy, and violence in a portrait of small-town American life, warts and all. But as in all towns, there’s also love, humor, and joy. This collaboration between the multiplex movie theater Park Cinemas, local musicians and Tablas Creek Winery (thanks to our member Sally Dunn!) gives you lots of entertainment for your ticket price. You’ll enjoy the plush seats, big screen, crisp audio, and tasty concessions of the movie theater, an emotional reading of this iconic American play and the evocative songs of the the WWI era performed live by local musicians. Plus, a freewine-tasting provided by the highly regarded Tablas Creek Winery before the show. What’s not to like?
The six member cast of townsfolk includes three women, our members Heather Branton, Brenda Nicovich, and Tina Salter, and three local actors, Charles Charm, Jeff Davis, and Mike Swan. The director is our new member Aria Loraine Rose, who has substantial experience in community theater.
Ticket sales will begin in early September. More on that later. Proceeds from the event will support our two local projects – Tech Trek and scholarships for North County women returning to college.
Note: We plan to defray our production costs by soliciting sponsorships from local individuals and businesses. If you can help with this effort, contact Linda Baker at baker.linda21@gmail.com.
