Serving Our Community

Women’s Resource Center

For 25 years the North County Women’s Shelter and Resource Center has provided services to women and their children who are victims of domestic violence.  Services include two Emergency Shelters; Community Counseling Program;Temporary Restraining Order assistance; On-campus Crisis Intervention and Counseling Program.

At our annual holiday luncheon, branch members bring donations of new clothing, linens, gift certificates and personal items for the women and children staying at the Women’s Resource Center.

Mobile Meals

Mobile Meals provides fully prepared lunches to aged or handicapped men and women who need this service.  Atascadero has five daily delivery routes with 8-15 homes per route.

El Camino Homeless Organization (ECHO)

AAUW member/volunteers assist with ECHO’s program which provides food preparation and/or serving dinner to the homeless whenever there is a fifth Tuesday in the month, feeding up to 80 community members. In 2013 we painted rooms at the ECHO facility as part of our “Pay It Forward” program.

Friends of the Library

Many AAUW members are involved in Friends of the Atascadero Martin Polin Library as board members and in other volunteer roles.

Robotics Team – Atascadero High School

The branch donation of $500 assisted the robotics team to participate in competition.
