Serving Our Community

Atascadero AAUW supports the work of many community organizations.  Here is a brief description of some of the organizations we support:

RISE       Respect | Inspire | Support | Empower

As a nonprofit organization that serves both victims of intimate partner violence and sexual assault/abuse and their loved ones, RISE provides comprehensive programs, services and resources to the North County community. Services include two Emergency Shelters; Community Counseling and Support Program; Temporary Restraining Order assistance; On-campus Crisis Intervention and Counseling Program.

At our annual holiday luncheon, branch members bring gift card donations for RISE clients.

El Camino Homeless Organization (ECHO)

In addition to providing temporary housing for those facing homelessness, ECHO provides meals and assistance with finding permanent housing and looking for jobs.

AAUW member/volunteers assist ECHO in a variety of ways, including meal service and other activities as needed.  For example, we painted rooms at the ECHO facility as part of our “Pay It Forward” program.

Friends of the Library

Many AAUW members are involved in Friends of the Atascadero Library, as board members and in other volunteer roles.

Robotics Team – Atascadero High School

The Greybots is the Atascadero high school robotics team. They strive to spread STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education by creating a hands-on, project-based, educational environment for students.  Since their inception in 2002, they have won numerous awards at both the regional and national levels.

AAUW members/volunteers provide financial support for the team.
